FC Dallas announced today that it has signed defender Enzo Newman to a two-year contract with club options for 2027, 2028, and 2029. Newman was selected 11th overall in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft. He played collegiately at Oregon State University.

Last season, Newman started all 18 matches for the Beavers. He is the sixth player in Oregon State’s program history to be named an Academic All-American. He also appeared in 18 matches as a true freshman for Oregon State in 2023.

Quick BDS Take

After seeing fellow Oregon State alumnus Logan Farrington and Tsiki Ntsabeleng earn extended contracts this week, Newman marks the latest from that school to earn a new deal.

There were some rumblings around preseason camp that Newman was already impressing the coaching staff. The rookie defender primarily played along the right side of the defense in college, but perhaps the new manager Eric Quill can find a way to slot him on the left behind Marco Farfan to help with the depth charts?

More than likely he is going to spend a bit more time with North Texas SC to start out the season. But if he can hit in the same way that Farrington and Ntsabeleng have, then it may be smart to keep selecting players from Oregon State in the SuperDraft.
