FC Dallas announced today that defender Shaq Moore has signed a contract extension through the 2027-28 season with a club option for the 2028-29 season.

Moore has appeared in 15 matches this season and recorded his first assist of the year in the Texas Derby against the Houston Dynamo. FC Dallas holds a 7-3-4 record when Moore starts in 2026. Named co-captain ahead of the season, Moore made his 100th MLS regular-season start against the LA Galaxy on April 18. He also leads FC Dallas and ranks 39th in MLS with 94.11 miles covered this season.

Moore joined Nashville SC in July 2022 and made 82 appearances across all competitions. Before returning to MLS, he spent three seasons with CD Tenerife in Spain's LaLiga2, making 101 appearances from 2019-22. Moore began his professional career with CF Huracán Moncada at 18 and went on to make 174 appearances across eight seasons with Atlético Levante UD and CF Reus Deportiu.

With the United States men’s national team, Moore has earned 19 caps since making his senior debut in 2018. He represented the U.S. at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, appearing against England and Iran, and later featured for the U.S. at the 2024 Copa América.

Quick BDS Take

Just like Logan Farrington earned earlier this summer, Moore is the next in line to get a small contract extension from the club ahead of the calendar switch in 2027.

I reported that this one was next in line for the club back at the end of July, it just took a bit longer to get over the finish line than I would have anticipated.

Dallas still has several players that they will need to re-work ahead of the 2027 seasons. Head over to our Salary Cap page to get the full lowdown of who all will need to earn extension.
