For the last couple of weeks, FC Dallas fans have been patiently waiting to see what will happen to Homegrown forward and Designated Player Jesus Ferreira. There were talks of him going to the Seattle Sounders that popped up shortly after MLS Cup and then…well, nothing.

Until today. Tom Bogert has an update on the trade that now shows what FC Dallas will stand to pick up in the deal.

BREAKING: Seattle Sounders reach agreement to acquire Jesus Ferreira from FC Dallas in a blockbuster trade, per sources. Dallas to receive: $2m GAM, int'l roster spot + winger Leo Chu. Ferreira/SEA agreed to new, long-term contract. Pending approval/paperwork www.givemesport.com/seattle-soun...

Yeah, you read that correctly. An international slot, midfielder Leo Chu and up to $2 million in GAM.

That is a healthy sum of GAM for FC Dallas to collect on their Homegrown DP. It will likely help offset some of the salary that they have reportedly agreed to take on in the Paul Arriola to Seattle move, too.

Chu, a U22 player for the Sounders is a solid pick up as well. The Brazilian played mostly on the left wing for the Sounders in his four-ish seasons in Washington. He appeared in 79 regular reason games for the Sounders, with 46 of those as a starter. During that time he had seven goals and 14 assists, most of which game in the 2023 season.

Chu fell out of favor as a starter in 2024 for the Sounders as Paul Rothrock came in and became a regular starter for them.

Both Chu and Ferreira hope they can regain form in new locations after dismal 2024 seasons for each.
