For the last two weeks, FC Dallas has been in Portugal for the second leg of its preseason camp under new manager Eric Quill. The club trained at the Pine Cliffs Resort in Algarve, Portugal. During their stay, FC Dallas had a win over Dinamo Tbilisi and then a loss to Brondby.
While it is only a small sample of matches, we are starting to get an understanding of what Quill is doing with his roster. He’s largely used the same groups over the course of two matches, in mostly a 4-2-3-1 formation.
As I’ve mentioned in previous preseason notes, I will not dwell too much on whether a guy lines up on the right or left in the attack just yet. But I do think we can begin to see where things are likely to go for the club’s season opener in Houston.
For a bit of a refresher, here is where I saw the depth chart before the Portugal trip:

Note: I tweaked the last depth chart slightly to reflect the Nkosi Tafari trade, Enzo Newman signing and Sam Sarvers's signing with NTSC.
Quick Notes on the preseason version:
Wrong on Bernie: Yep, I’m first to admit that I slotted Kamungo in incorrectly in the first attempt. As I’ll get to in a minute, I think the number 10 role is still very much up in the air.
Midfield duo: In the same light as Kamungo, I was off on where I thought Quill would play Tsiki Ntsabeleng in his midfield. We know now he’ll be more of a linking midfielder. It also looks like Quill likes him some Diego Garcia and Nolan Norris, given how both appeared as backups in the two games.
So after two game with limited highlights, here is where things appear to be going:
