The dust has finally settled on FC Dallas transferring attacker Alan Velasco to Boca Juniors in Argentina. The race to figure out a Designated Player replacement is on as the calendar is quickly approaching First Kick in February.

A new report from Give Me Sport’s Tom Bogert suggest that FC Dallas is eyeing another Croatian attacker to join Petar Musa on the roster in the form of Feyenoord attacking midfielder Luka Ivanusec.

In Bogert’s latest report on transfer needs for all 30 MLS teams, he states the following about FC Dallas’ DP hunt:

FC Dallas made an offer to sign Portland Timbers star Evander, but will face stiff competition from other clubs in the league. Sources say they've looked into Feyenoord attacking midfielder Luka Ivanusec as well. I heard whether it's Evander, Ivanusec or someone else, Dallas will bring in a DP No. 10 following Alan Velasco's $10 million transfer to Boca Juniors.

The European transfer window closes at the end of the week, so the clock is certainly ticking.

Quick BDS Take

Hey, an actual rumor of a player the club is looking at is kind of weird to see after all winter long seeing reports of players leaving FC Dallas. In a way, this is a nice breath of fresh air.

He's currently on a five-year deal with Feyenoord, so some sort of transfer fee would have to be established to get him to MLS. If you all recall, the Musa transfer didn't happen until February last year, so things can get sorted out even after a transfer window has closed.

The club has discussed how they want to bring in players who have won titles before and Ivanušec would be one that has achieved that a good amount in his young career. The 26-year old was a five-time Croatian league champion with GNK Dinamo Zagreb, and a Dutch Cup and Dutch Super Cup winner with Feyenoord.

He's also has 22 appearances with the Croatian national team.
