There is leaving it late and then leaving it even later. FC Dallas dug itself out of two separate holes at Energizer Park on Sunday evening, and Logan Farrington’s goal in the dying moments reduced a 3-3 draw against St. Louis CITY SC that looked dead and buried with 15 minutes to play.
The night started as a shootout. Simon Becher put the hosts ahead four minutes into the match, and Shaq Moore answered with his first goal of the season 14 minutes later. St. Louis picked up two more goals in the middle portion of the match, first by Daniel Edelman before halftime and then Carlo Holse making it 3-1 right after the hour mark.
Typically that is how road games go to die, but Dallas did not let it end there. Sebastien Ibeagha headed home a Joaquin Valiente corner to give Dallas life, and Farrington finished the job at the death to snatch a point.

4’ - Goal St. Louis. The hosts get on the board early thanks to a quick counter attack. Simon Becher got the ball at the top of the penalty box, made a quick turn, and fired a shot past Jonathan Sirois.
18’ - GOAL!! Shaq Moore everyone! The veteran dribbles into the penalty box and nearly loses the ball before recovering and hitting a shot into the far post.
42’ - Goal St. Louis. Edelman puts away a rebound after Sirois made a diving save on a shot from distance from Becher.
64’ - Goal St. Louis. Holse comes off the bench and scores with his first touch of the night. Edelman raced down the right side of the field and sent a ball across the Dallas penalty box where Holse was there to easily put home and insurance goal.
81’ - GOAL! Ibeagha heads one home to pull Dallas within one!
90+7’ - GOAL!! Musa sets up Farrington for a game-tying goal! What a comeback!

Midway through the second half, I thought we were doomed for a second straight loss. Now, we head home next week for the first time since May on a big swing in momentum. Yes, there are defensive issues to work out here in the coming weeks as the playoff run picks up, but this group is showing a never-say-die mentality that is needed here.
About the Subs
Almost at the hour mark, Eric Quill went to his bench for the first time on the night by making a double sub with Ran Binyamin and Chris Cappis coming on for Herman Johansson and Santiago Moreno. Ten minutes later, he made another double-sub when he brought in Logan Farrington and Nolan Norris, to replace Bernard Kamungo and Ramiro. In the final minute, Sam Sarver came on for Kaick.

Valiente had another solid night for me, helping set up the second goal to help get Dallas back into the game.
