North Texas SC announced today that the club and head coach John Gall will part ways.
Gall coached 77 games with North Texas SC, the most of any coach in club history.
In 2025, he helped the club capture the MLS NEXT Pro Invitational, defeating Liga BBVA Expansión MX side C.D. Tapatío 3-1. In 2024, Gall led North Texas to a 7-1-4 record before joining FC Dallas as interim assistant coach in June. His work during the first half of the season helped lay the foundation for North Texas’ MLS NEXT Pro Cup championship.
Gall took over as interim head coach in July 2023 and was named head coach in November 2023. He joined the FC Dallas organization in 2015 and held multiple coaching roles within the FC Dallas Academy.
The club will begin its search for a new head coach immediately.

Given how North Texas SC did in 2026, I think this was the right call for the club to make a coaching change. Gall did well enough over his tenure as head coach at North Texas SC.
I think the argument could be made that the club is looking for a manager to do something similar to what Eric Quill did in the early years of the second team club, and that’s push players, ideally young academy players, from that team to the first team. Gall was able to get a lot out of guys like Sam Sarver and Edu Nys, but he wasn’t getting other guys to be elevated quickly to the first team.
Now, a lot of that does come down to the individual player and how the club sees that player’s trajectory. It isn’t all on the NTSC manager, but that person does carry some of the weight.
I do wonder if FC Dallas will continue to look within for their next manager, maybe with someone like current academy coach Matias Asorey or Chuy Vera. One of those guys could help bridge the gap with the academy crop that is coming out to NTSC.
