FC Dallas could have easily let frustration take over on Saturday night. After dominating the opening half against the Colorado Rapids without finding the back of the net, Dallas conceded early in the second half and suddenly found itself chasing a game it had largely controlled.
Instead of letting the game go in a typical FC Dallas fashion that fans are accustomed to seeing over the years, ending in disappointment, Eric Quill’s side responded with three goals to secure a 3-1 victory on Decision Day, closing out the regular season with another example of the resilience that has defined this team throughout 2026.
For Quill, the comeback was about more than simply collecting three points. It was a reflection of the mentality, work ethic and culture that have helped transform FC Dallas into a playoff team.
“I thought it was arguably our best first-half performance of the year, but we didn’t get the goal I thought we deserved,” Quill said afterward. “It was difficult to go into halftime knowing how well we had played on both sides of the ball.”
The frustration only grew when Colorado struck early in the second half. However, Dallas refused to let that setback dictate the remainder of the match.
“I’ve seen a lot of teams fall apart in those moments and start questioning themselves, but we never did that,” Quill explained. “We got right back on the horse and went after them.”
The response was emphatic. Joaquín Valiente provided a much-needed spark off the bench, finishing a move created by Kaick to bring Dallas back into the contest. From there, the home side continued to apply pressure, eventually turning its dominance into a convincing victory.
