FC Dallas beat the Seattle Sounders 1-0 on Wednesday night for its first regular-season win over the Sounders since May 2022. All it took was one volley from Kaick to do it.
The goal was a thing of beauty, too. Dallas had a corner in the 63rd minute that found Osaze Urhoghide’s head. His header then went back to Kaick, who was able to get a clean strike on the ball for an instant classic of a goal.
From there, it was all on the Dallas defense to secure its seventh shutout of the season. Daniel finished the night with seven saves of his own, for his second shutout in a Dallas uniform.
Key Moments
19’ - Big stop by Daniel on a Seattle free kick. Jackson Reagan got a clean look off a ball from Albert Rusnak that bounced between a pair of Dallas defenders. Daniel made the diving stop to keep the game level.
25’ - Nearly a goal for Seattle. A bad give away in the midfield leads to an open chance on goal for Dejan Jovelijc. Thankfully, the shot goes just wide of the near post as Shaq Moore makes a defensive move to keep the shot from hitting the target.
28’ - Another big save by Daniel. The Sounders keep getting good looks on goal and the Dallas keep continues to bail out the defense.
41’ - Big chance by Petar Musa! On a counter attack, Ran Binyamin whipped in a ball that Musa was able to get a boot on but his volley goes wide.
63’ - GOOOOAALL!! Kaick with an absolute banger. Wow! A poor corner kick led to an amazing volley at the top of the penalty area.
90+6’ - Delgado nearly adds a second in stoppage time, as Dallas gets a turnover deep in the Seattle defensive end, but the shot is too high.

Instant Reaction
This was the kind of response Dallas needed after the loss in Charlotte over the weekend. The defense stepped up and showed some grit once again to secure the shutout, and at times, the press in the attack did lead to some solid chances.
Beating Seattle is always a tricky thing for this team to do, and this could be a momentum type win for the club.
About the Subs
Eric Quill went to his bench midway through the second half, as Patrickson Delgado and Chris Cappis came on in the 74th minute for Santiago Moreno and Joaquin Valiente. In the 81st minute, Herman Johansson came on for Bernard Kamungo.
Man of the Match
As much as I would go with Kaick, I think Daniel had himself a solid night in goal. He definitely showed why Quill has favored him.
Where does this fit into the season
The win pushes Dallas to 50 points on the year, which keeps them in 3rd place behind St. Louis and Vancouver, who tied earlier in the evening. To clinch a playoff spot, we will need to wait for a couple other games to wrap up before we know if we’re in officially, or if we’re waiting to do it this weekend in Houston.
What’s next for FC Dallas
FC Dallas hits the road this weekend for the final Texas Derby battle of the regular season, when they face the Houston Dynamo on Saturday night.
