FC Dallas is now on a winning streak as they downed the Portland Timbers 2-1 on Saturday night at Toyota Stadium to secure their third win in a row. This is the first time the club has completed a three-game winning streak since the COVID-shortened season back in 2020.
After a fairly bland first half, Logan Farrington found the back of the net second before the halftime whistle, finishing his ninth goal of the year. Portland pushed for an equalizer in the second half but Dallas held on and managed to get an eventual game-winner from Joaquin Valiente in the 87th minute. Petar Musa came off the bench to help set up Valiente’s second goal of the season.
The Timbers tried to make it interesting as they pulled a goal back in the third minute of stoppage time from Ariel Lassiter.
Key Moments
45’ - GOAL! It took a while but we finally got some action as Moore played a long ball over the Portland defense, right to the run of Farrington inside the penalty area. The flag stayed down as Farrington scored his 9th of the year.
68’ - Big save by Daniel! Portland got a couple of players behind the Dallas defense.
74’ - POST! Farrington gets another good look on goal but it clings off the post!
87’ - GOAL!! Valiente adds an insurance goal late! A high press leads to Musa getting the ball inside the box. His attempt gets blocked but the Croatian takes the rebound and crosses it over to Valiente, who chests the ball down and scores.
90+3’– Goal Portland. The visitors get one back off a lucky bounce into the penalty area that Ariel Lassiter gets on the end of it to pull one back.

Yeah, this one was fairly bland for the most part, but a win is a win. And for once, Dallas has a three-game winning streak to talk about. Wins can be ugly, and this one may not go down as the prettiest one, either. But, I think this is one we take and not stress over too many of the details.
About the Subs
Quill went to his bench shortly after the hour mark to bring on a pair of subs. He first brought in Herman Johansson and Chris Cappis for Ran Binyamin and Santiago Moreno. Then in the 77th minute after the hydration break, he brought Petar Musa and Patrickson Delgado on for Ramiro and Logan Farrington. Lastly, after the Valiente goal, Lalas Abubakar came on for Bernard Kamungo.
Man of the Match
We’re going to give it to Valiente for the second game in a row. The game-winner was part of it but he was one of the only ones producing anything of note going forward in the attack.
Where does this fit into the season
The win (and LAFC’s terrible night in KC) pushes Dallas into third place with 43 points. Hell of a time to be alive.
