Locking up a home playoff spot will have to wait another day for FC Dallas.
Wednesday night, FC Dallas put up a dud in a 2-0 loss to the Columbus Crew at Toyota Stadium, extending their home winless run against the fellow MLS original to 16 years.
The Crew got on the board 18 minutes into the match after goalkeeper Patrick Schulte played a quick restart that began a counter-attack for the Crew, sprung by an Anass Zaroury ball across the Dallas back line and finished by Gonzalo Tapia.
Dallas thought they had tied it up in the 60th minute when Shaq Moore thought he found his second goal of the season. Bernard Kamungo played a ball back to the top of the penalty area that Moore was able to finish. The center official first signaled that there was a dispute on whether or not Kamungo kept the ball in play before passing to Moore, but then called it a goal. But video review intervened after that and determined that Petar Musa was offside before the play began.
The Crew found a second goal a few minutes later as Santiago Rodriguez finished off a chance from close range to beat Daniel at the near post.

Instant Reaction
We probably should have known this was a trap match before kickoff, as playing a non-conference opponent this late in the season is always a weird thing.
This was a flat performance for the most part, too. You could argue that having a flat game like this against a non-conference team is better than one against one in your conference, but the timing still stinks either way. Dallas has a chance to potentially go up to the top of the conference with a Win.
About the Subs
After halftime, Eric Quill went to his bench to bring on Herman Johansson and Daniel Job for Ran Binyamin and Patrickson Delgado. Moments after Moore’s goal, Kaick and Joaquin Valiente came on for Ramiro and Santiago Moreno. The final sub came in the final 15 minutes with Anderson Julio coming on for Nolan Norris.
Man of the Match
We’re going to go with Osaze Urhoghide on this one, as he lead the club in defensive contributions tonight.
Where does this fit into the season
The loss doesn’t see Dallas move anywhere in the standings, thanks to a St. Louis loss against Portland. Dallas is still one point off Vancouver atop the West, with the Whitecaps kicking off later tonight.
What’s next for FC Dallas
FC Dallas wraps up a busy week with their final road trip of the regular season, when they battle Sporting Kansas City this Saturday at 2pm.
