FC Dallas grabbed another road win on Wednesday night, a 2-1 win over Minnesota United that gave the club its seventh road victory of the season, the most it’s managed to pick up away from home in a post penalty shootout era.
The first half was nothing to write home about for either side, but the game came alive in the second half. Kaick opened things up with his second goal in two games, thanks to an assist from Joaquin Valiente. The goal was Kaick’s third of the season, while Valiente recorded his 12th assist of the season. Dallas nearly doubled the lead moments after the first goal as a Shaq Moore attempt was cleared off the goal line.
Minnesota responded with a goal from Kelvin Yeboah. For a moment it looked like this one was heading to a draw until the Dallas bench stepped up. Sam Sarver found fellow sub Santiago Moreno wide open in the 84th minute, and Moreno had an easy look on goal that he didn’t miss for his third of the season.

62‘ - GOAL! KAICK! Valiente gets inside the penalty area and then lays it off to an open Kaick, who scores his second goal in the last two games.
64’ - Nearly a second! First the ball gets cleared off the line after Shaq Moore nearly sneaks in a goal, then Ramiro gets an open look in the middle of the box that Callendar has to make a diving save to keep out.
73’ - Goal Minnesota. Yeboah ties it up after beating Binyamin at the back post. He missed his first chance but was able to put home a rebound.
82’ - Nearly there! Farrington gets a free header off a Valiente corner but it goes just wide of the far post.
84’ - GOAL! MORENO! Sam Sarver got the ball out wide and set up Moreno who was free at the top of the penalty area. Moreno took a touch inside the penalty box before beating Callendar.

After a fairly boring first half, the game came alive in the second half. Dallas had the better of the chances and once again found ways to put them away. I was a little worried with the response from the Loons and how Quill hadn’t really gone to his bench early enough, but the guys off the bench made a difference in this one.

Quill finally went to his bench shortly after the Minnesota goal to bring on Herman Johansson and Santiago Moreno. He took off Ran Binyamin and Chris Cappis. With about 10 minutes to go, Sam Sarver came on for Logan Farrington.
Man of the Match
Valiente had himself a nice night with the assist to Kaick, for his 12th of the season. He ended the match with the most touches inside the Minnesota penalty box, most chances created and completed the most dribbles on the ball.

With this result, Dallas moves to 40 points on the season, and is still in 4th place after LAFC picked up a win on the night.
