I mean, can FC Dallas catch a break this season on the injury front? Seriously.
Earlier in the day, we reported the devastating news about Geovane Jesus picking up a tear in his right knee, an ACL injury, to be more precise, that will take him out of the rest of this season and likely a month or two into 2024.
Geovane Jesus isn’t the only player carrying an injury into the start of a ruling seven games in a 21-day stretch that the club is about to get into starting this weekend when they host the Seattle Sounders.
Here is the official injury report from the club as of today. I know the date says September 11, but it is from today. Still, that is also subject to change depending on how training goes tomorrow.

So yeah, four on the out list, with two being season-ending injuries to Geovane Jesus and Tarik Scott.
When I asked Nico Estevez about Bernard Kamungo in his weekly media call, the Dallas coach said he was progressing well but didn’t offer up a timetable for his return.
“He is still out,” stated Estevez. “He's recovering in the right direction, but he will need more time right now.”
Estevez didn’t get into how, why or when Alan Velasco picked up his right calf injury1. It is safe to assume he picked it up while he was away with the Argentine national team this past week.
Then you have a pair of questionable players in keeper Antonio Carrera and defender Ema Twumasi. Carrera isn’t as big of a concern for FC Dallas fans right now, but Twumasi certainly is, with Geovane Jesus being out for the rest of 2023. Should Twumasi not go this weekend against Seattle, I would assume Sam Junqua will start in his place.
One positive, Jesus Ferreira appears completely over his COVID bout that he recently had that caused him to miss the Austin and St. Louis games.
“I think he's having a great week,” said Estevez. “Last week, he trained well, so I think this couple of weeks have been very good for him because he was sick and could train very little after. I think it's good that he can be on form and be able to help the team.”
For now, I will just leave this here. It’s a sad reminder of how this season is truly going in 2023:

Yeah, just add eight more to Geovane Jesus’ tally and possibly some more to Velaco and Twumasi.
To be fair, we didn’t see this injury report until after the media call, so we were unable to ask Estevez about it. ↩
