The new season is on the horizon with FC Dallas heading south to battle their rivals next Saturday in Houston. As we gear up for the new season, we begin our series of previews today, starting with a look at some players who we feel are poised to breakout for FC Dallas.

While MLSSoccer.com's Matt Doyle recently pointed out that Patrickson Delgado is a good candidate for FC Dallas to breakout this season, we have a trio of other options to dive into today. (For what it is worth, Delgado is an excellent pick.)

Diego Garcia

Before last season, I thought Garcia was certainly a player to keep an eye on as he began his time with North Texas SC. Thankfully, he shined with NTSC last year en route to a MLS NEXT Pro title with the second team.

In 2024, he had eight goals and four assists for NTSC. He set a club record as the youngest player to reach 50 appearances (18 years, 4 days). Garcia has earned several U.S. youth national team call-ups, with his most recent coming in November 2024.

Now, he's a full fledged Homegrown player with the first team and based on how things have gone in preseason this year, my gut tells me we're going to see way more of him this year.

Pedrinho

The Brazilian was the first addition to the roster this offseason from North Texas SC and rightfully so with his big game heroics with the second team in 2024. He scored ten goals and added five assists in the regular season, before scoring the club's game-winner in the MLS NEXT Pro Cup last month.

So far this preseason, Quill appears to have a lot of trust and faith in Pedrinho and for good reseasons, he's proving he may belong at the MLS level.

Nolan Norris

Weirdly enough, I had Norris on my short list going into last year. This time I do think he's more inclined to get minutes and contribute with the first team.

Given FC Dallas' depth issues in the defense at the moment, Norris could be a guy that gets some minutes as a backup left back or center back. However, he will likely get most of his minutes out of the midfield as one of the club's defensive midfielders.

Norris helped lead North Texas to a MLS NEXT Pro title last year. Like Garcia, he's been called up to the US Youth national team multiple times over the last couple of seasons, including a January 2025 camp. He's expected to be one of the key players (and possible captain) for the US U-20 side that will be competing in the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
