As FC Dallas is getting set to sell one of their Designated Players to an Argentine club, the race for a replacement or, at the very least, a player who could help fill the gaps a bit is on.

New reports out of South America show that FC Dallas is one of two clubs interested in midfielder Baltasar Rodríguez from Racing Club.

Rodriguez is an up and coming 21-year old for Racing and has been linked with Inter Miami as well as FC Dallas.

In 2024, Rodriguez has appeared in 36 games with Racing where he scored two goals and added four assists. He spent time in both the middle of the midield for Racing, as well as the right wing.

He's also a U23 player for the Argentine national team, who played in the pre-Olympic tournament for Argentina last year.

And now for some highlights:

Quick BDS Take

I get this one is in a very early rumor stage for us, but these are the types of U22 players I would like FC Dallas to be linked with more times than the ones that have come through the club so far.

I have a little more excitement on this one in seeing Miami linked as the other MLS club invovled. I really have liked Miami's strategy so far with their U22 signings (they're mostly able to get young names like this, and then flip some for a profit in a short time).

I don't want to call this one an Alan Velasco replacement just yet. His stats with Racing don't give me enough excitement to think along those lines, but if you believe in transfer value on places like TransferMarkt, he does have a nice value that could be a good fit for a U22 slot.

What do you all think of this rumor? Let's discuss this one below.
