A tough week ended with another tough result on Saturday night for FC Dallas.

Playing its third match in seven days, the Dallas lineup was heavily rotated on Saturday night but still found itself chasing a game early in a 2-1 loss to the Seattle Sounders at Lumen Field. Former FC Dallas Homegrown forward Jesus Ferreira opened the scoring up for Seattle before Jordan Morris added a second goal inside the opening 30 minutes of the match.

Dallas pulled one goal back before halftime, as Nolan Norris scored his first FC Dallas goal off a corner kick from Patrickson Delgado.

Michael Collodi helped keep the game within reach, as he made a big penalty save early in the second half on Ferreira. But despite hanging around, Dallas could not find the late equalizer and left Seattle with its second straight loss, and third overall on the season.

Key Moments

5’ - Big chance for Dallas. The ball got played into Deedson in the penalty area, his shot got blocked, but the rebound landed at Santiago Moreno’s feet. The Colombian quickly took his chance at goal but it was saved.

15’ - Goal Seattle. Jackson Regan played a long ball up the sideline for Jordan Morris. He took a couple of touches before finding a wide-open Jesus Ferreira at the top of the penalty area. The former Dallas Homegrown whipped a shot that took a deflection and beat Michael Collodi.

30’ - Goal Seattle. Another long ball into Morris and this time the Seattle striker does the work on his own to beat Collodi.

40’ - GOAL! On a corner kick from Patrickson Delgado, Nolan Norris scores his first professional goal with FC Dallas! Norris headed the ball at the near post to get Dallas back into the game.

54’ - SAVE!!! Collodi makes a big on Ferreira’s penalty attempt. Ferreira went low and to his right. Collodi was there to meet the ball for the save!

Instant Reaction

Dallas hasn’t won in Seattle since 2011 and it will stay that way for another year. When seeing the lineup come out at the start of the night, you knew this had the potential to be a long night. Both goals given up feel like more of the same out of this group, too. Eric Quill said after the match that both are fixable mistakes, but those mistakes are really starting to pile up.

About the Subs

Quill went to his bench at halftime to bring Herman Johansson on for Deedson. He then brought on Shaq Moore for Lalas Abubakar in the 54th minute, just moments after Abubakar gave up a penalty. Two more subs came into the match in the 68th minute when Chris Cappis and Joaquin Valiente subbed off Patrickson Delgado and Ran Binyamin. The final sub came in the 77th minute, when Kaick came in for Sam Sarver.

Man of the Match

Let’s give it to Norris for getting his first goal and having a pretty solid night overall.

Where does this fit into the season

The loss, along with other results from around the league will put Dallas into a tie for 7th place with the Colorado Rapids on 13 points. But, yeah, this month really feels like it got away from Dallas. What easily could have been a month of point grabbing saw only 5 come in.

What’s next for FC Dallas

Dallas will remain on the road next week as they open up a new month of play in New Jersey, when they take on Red Bull New York.
