FC Dallas ended a three-game homestand on a sour note Wednesday night, losing 1-0 to Minnesota United. The loss snapped a five-game unbeaten run giving Dallas it’s second loss of the season and first at home in 2026.
The Loons picked up a first half goal from Anthony Markanich, who followed up his own rebound to give the visitors the only goal they would need.
Despite finishing with 15 total shots, Dallas rarely tested Minnesota in any meaningful way, putting two efforts on target. The Loons, meanwhile, made the most of their limited looks, finishing with five shots overall, with four coming on frame.
Key Moments
24’ - Big Save! Michael Collodi came up big on a close-range header by Kelvin Yeboah.
25’ - POST! Shaq Moore received a ball behind the Minnesota defense along the left side of the field. He took a couple of dribbles to get inside the penalty box before ripping a shot that Drake Callender saved as the ball hit the post and back into the penalty area where a Minnesota player cleared it out.
31’ - Goal Minnesota. Owen Gene played a ball through the Dallas defense, where Anthony Markanich was running into the penalty area. He took one attempt on goal that Collodi stopped with his feet, but Markanich was there to finish the rebound for the game’s first goal.
Instant Reaction
In a weird way, it felt like this club was due for a real dud of a game at home this season. Sure, we’ve had some close calls (Houston, San Diego) and others that were disappointing (the last two weeks), but this one takes the cake. Nothing really was clicking on the night for Dallas offensively, and credit to Minnesota for being themselves here. They got their one chance, took it and sat back.
About the Subs
Eric Quill went to his bench shortly after the hour mark as he made a triple sub. He brought Sam Sarver, Logan Farrington and Ramiro on for Sebastien Ibeagha, Chris Cappis and Santiago Moreno. Quill had to then take Petar Musa off in the 70th minute. He brought Patrickson Delgado on in his place. The final sub came in the 83rd minute, when Nicholas Simmonds came on for Herman Johansson.
Man of the Match
Urhoghide was a beast on the night. He ended the match with 13 defensive contributions, as he was one of the few that shined on the night.
Where does this fit into the season
If the last two games were any indication of what was to come, this was the true cap to what was a disappointing homestand for FC Dallas. Nine possible points only turned into two, with 11 out of the next 13 games coming on the road for the club.
Dallas remains in 7th place (as of this writing), but not picking up points in this one really will hurt in the long run.
What’s next for FC Dallas
Dallas finishes up the month of April with their third road trip of the season, when they take on the Seattle Sounders this Saturday night.
