The coaching search is over. After reports broke on Tuesday night that interim manager Peter Luccin had been pulled out of the running for the full-time head coaching job at FC Dallas, the club has announced who will lead them in 2025.

FC Dallas has announced that Eric Quill will become the club's next head coach.

“I’m extremely excited and truly honored to get the opportunity to lead FC Dallas into the 2025 season and beyond. This club has a rich history, values player development and prioritizes competitive excellence,” Quill said. “I’d like to thank Clark Hunt, Dan Hunt, and André Zanotta for their belief in me. I can’t wait to get started."

The 46-year-old Quill will join FC Dallas from New Mexico United, where he spent the past year leading the USL Championship team. He was named one of three finalists for USL Championship Coach of the Year.

“Eric is an outstanding coach whose track record of developing players and achieving success at every level speaks for itself,” said FC Dallas President Dan Hunt. “We’re thrilled to welcome him back to Frisco and excited for what the future holds under his leadership. I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Peter Luccin, who did a fantastic job as our interim head coach this season. Peter’s passion, dedication, and leadership were critical during a transitional year. We are forever grateful for his contributions to the club.”

Quill is no stranger to the Dallas area as he led North Texas SC to the title in the inaugural USL League-One season (2019) and was named the Coach of the Year. Quill also played for FC Dallas during the 2004 season when the club was still known as the Dallas Burn.

As head coach of North Texas SC, Quill was instrumental in developing United States national team players such as Ricardo Pepi, Bryan Reynolds and Tanner Tessmann. Both Pepi and Tessmann featured for the national team in its Concacaf Nations League wins over Jamaica over the past week.

Quill was a previous candidate for the FC Dallas head coaching job after the team relieved Luchi Gonzalez of his post in 2021, but the two sides couldn't reach an agreement then.

After leaving North Texas, Quill became an assistant coach for the Columbus Crew during the 2022-23 seasons before taking over at New Mexico for the 2024 season. Quill also previously served as an assistant for the United States U-15 and U-19 national teams.

With New Mexico United, Quill set club records for wins (18) and points (59).
