If you have been patiently waiting for FC Dallas to announce their next head coach, there may be some light at the end of that tunnel.
Late Tuesday night, local Spanish reporter Carlos Nava dropped some news about one name that is now out of the running for the open manager job, interim manager Peter Luccin.
Luccin has been told he is no longer in the running for the position according to Nava.
If you recall, Luccin was one of three finalists for the position last month when the team discussed their post season plans. So now, we're down to two remaining candidates.
Sources tell Big D Soccer that New Mexico United manager Eric Quill has been one of the finalists. The club had to wait for his team to wrap up their season in the USL Championship playoffs, where they lost in the quarterfinals to the Las Vegas Lights.
Quill took North Texas SC to their first title game in 2019, back when the club was in USL League One. When he departed Frisco, he landed with the Columbus Crew for a moment before taking over New Mexico this season. While in the USL-C, he lead New Mexico to the top of the Western Conference.
While Quill has been one of the three, we still do not know who the other candidate is or has been these last few weeks. But during that time Philadelphia parted ways with Jim Curtin and yesterday Tata Martino stepped away from Inter Miami. Those dominoes haven't really affected FC Dallas, but maybe the Hunts have waited this long because they are evaluating their options.
We shall see. But it does feel like we're inching closer to a new manager taking over.
