What we learned in FC Dallas’ wild comeback win over Inter Miami

No Messi, but there was still very much a party.

FC Dallas manager Eric Quill mentioned it before the club took off to South Florida last week. He said that the club wasn’t going there to steal a point, they were there to win.

After going down 3-1 in the 55th minute, it looked like stealing a point would potentially be the only option. Instead, the next 20 or so minutes saw FC Dallas shift the game completely into their control and three goals, including one off a set piece (finally) helped seal the improbable comeback.

I won’t pretend that this game wouldn’t have been any different had Inter Miami not rested their key starters like Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. We know it would have been different. Given how the first 55 or so minutes went, it probably could have been a lot different.

What we’re getting out of this FC Dallas squad is different right now. It definitely isn’t pretty at times, but the buttons being pushed by Quill in the moment are starting to be the right ones.

Let’s dive into some key aspects from this big win.
