FC Dallas looks for back-to-back wins for the first time in 2023 as they head north into Canada to face the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place.

FC Dallas picked up a much-needed victory last weekend to wrap up their two-game home stand to begin 2023 with a 3-1 win over the LA Galaxy. Jesus Ferreira scored his first brace of the season, while Alan Velasco also found the back of the net for the first time in the new season.

The Caps are fresh off a strong start in their Concacaf Champions League campaign with a 5-0 win on Wednesday night over Real Espana of Honduras. In league play, it has been a different story for the Caps so far in 2023, as they’ve lost their first two games.

FC Dallas Notes:

Key player for FC Dallas: Alan Velasco - While it is easy to point at Jesus Ferreira each game, we need to see even more out of Velasco in this one. Either it is on free kicks (which we know he is dangerous at) or making runs off the ball (like we saw on his goal against LA last week).

Recent history against Vancouver: The Whitecaps have won their last three meetings with Dallas, including both in 2022, after not previously winning consecutive times in the first 24 games between the sides. Vancouver was the only team to complete the regular season double over Dallas last season.

Improvements needed away from Frisco: FC Dallas lost only six regular season road games last season (W4 D7), its fewest in a full season since suffering only three defeats away from home in 2010. Dallas had lost at least 10 road games in each of its previous two full MLS seasons (10 in 2021, 11 in 2019).

First road game record: Since 1996, FC Dallas has a 6-13-8 record for its first road match of the season.

Homegrown clock: FC Dallas Homegrowns have played a total of 441 minutes and made six appearances.
