Major League Soccer is a marathon and not a sprint. After two solid outings on the road for FC Dallas to start the year, a home loss last weekend certainly showed that anything can happen on any given weekend.
New FC Dallas manager Eric Quill learned that a bit the hard way in Matchday 3’s home opener last weekend against the Chicago Fire. Quill’s club had a 1-0 advantage and looked fairly comfortable for about the first 75 minutes of the match.
Then some tactics changed through substitutions and the Fire responded with three goals inside of the final ten minutes of the match.
Quill notably took the loss on the chin last Saturday and now his club faces a tougher opponent this weekend as they welcome the Vancouver Whitecaps to the soon-to-be renovated Toyota Stadium.
Vancouver has come out hot in 2025, winning three straight league games while finding a way to advance in the Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinals this past Wednesday after a 2-2 draw with Liga MX side Monterrey. The Caps secured a 2-2 draw against the Liga MX side in their second leg on Wednesday night in Mexico, giving them an away goals series win.
FC Dallas has struggled in recent years against Vancouver, with only a single win in their last ten meetings with the Canadian side.
