FC Dallas will play in Leagues Cup 2027. MLS and Leagues Cup made it official on Sunday, hours after Decision Day wrapped around MLS, confirming the 18 clubs headed to the fifth edition of the summer tournament.

Qualification was simple for MLS: finish inside the top nine of your conference and you’re in. Dallas did that in the West, and it joins 17 other MLS clubs and 18 Liga MX teams. Next year’s tournament will run starting August 3 and go through September 5.

Who's in from the West

FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo, LAFC, Portland, Real Salt Lake, San Jose, Seattle, St. Louis, and Vancouver.

Who's in from the East

Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Columbus, Inter Miami, Nashville, New England, Orlando, and Philadelphia.

The Dynamo, San Jose, St. Louis, and New England are all back after sitting out 2026.

The part that matters

Leagues Cup is a midsummer slog, but the prize is real. The top three finishers earn berths to the 2028 Concacaf Champions Cup. For a club like Dallas, that's the actual reason to care about August. Toluca is the defending champ and the first LIGA MX side to win it.

What we don't know yet

The match schedule, club rankings, and format details are all coming later. We'll update this post when they land.

The Bottom Line

Dallas is going to be very busy in 2027. First the return of the US Open Cup for all US-based MLS teams, and now the Leagues Cup is confirmed.

There is still a small chance they could land a Concacaf Champions Cup spot (should St. Louis, Miami, Nashville, Vancouver, or New England win MLS Cup - a spot would open up for Dallas).
