FC Dallas picked up an important second road win of the season on Saturday, as they downed Real Salt Lake 1-0. The win also snapped a two-game losing streak for FC Dallas.

In a way, this game was weird.

An early red card to Ariath Piol drastically changed what RSL could do in their build up play. There are also plenty of questions that we may not be able to actually answer from this one that include:

  1. How much of this result was Dallas being up a man for 70-ish minutes?
  2. How much of this result was RSL being without Diego Luna and Dominik Marczuk (easily their two best attacking players)?
  3. How would this result have been different had FCD not been able to hold on late when RSL was pushing for a late equalizer?

All good questions to say the least from this one, and in some way, good questions that we may not have to stress too much over because the club picked up three points.

And by the way, seven points on the road in three road games equals the total number of points earned away from home in 2024. It is also about half of the road points that the club earned away from home in 2023 (18 points). That is huge.
