The summer transfer window for Major League Soccer opens in two weeks and FC Dallas is beginning to get some moves lined up to go with the two they’ve already done this summer for Antonio Carrera and Show.

According to Brazilian reporter Vene Casagrande, FC Dallas is getting set to transfer U22 midfielder Leo Chu to Portuguese side Alverca, a club that was recently promoted to the top league in Portugal.

There isn't anything noted about the potential transfer fee for Chu, but FC Dallas would be able to unload a U22 roster slot with any move here.

Chu came over to Dallas in the blockbuster deal that sent Homegrown forward Jesus Ferreira to the Seattle Sounders ahead of the 2025 season. Should the deal go through, the Sounders will retain some sell-on percentage on Chu, who is in the final year of his contract.

The Brazilian appeared in 79 regular reason games for the Sounders, with 46 of those as a starter. During that time he had seven goals and 14 assists, most of which game in the 2023 season. With FC Dallas, Chu has appeared in four games with three of those as a starter. He has one goal to his name, but more notably has been in and out with injuries since the preseason.

Quick BDS Take

Seeing Chu not make the game day roster last weekend against Minnesota felt like an eye-opening thing, especially when he is healthy. FC Dallas opted to bring up Sam Sarver on a short-term loan from North Texas SC instead.

From the moment Chu was listed as a piece of the Ferreira trade earlier this year, it always felt like his time in Frisco could be brief. Not just because he was in the final year of his current MLS contract, but more so because the team could potentially find a transfer partner for him that Seattle couldn't last year.

I previously wrote that Chu could find a new life in MLS with this move, but the more he was out of commission with injuries, the more I felt his time would end up being brief.
