We’ve talked a lot lately about how much of a rebuild this winter has been for FC Dallas. It hasn’t been just the number of moves made by the club, but a clear signal that we’re changing cycles between managers.

In MLS, you typically see big changes like this when a new manager is hired in the offseason. Out goes one manager’s group of players and in comes a new set that fit more of what the new manager wants to do with his club.

FC Dallas is no different here as their last two manager changes in the offseason saw a slew of players go out and a batch of new players come in. Let’s look back briefly at the last two times the club went through an offseason coaching change.

Luchi Gonzalez - 2018

In December 2018, Gonzalez was named Head Coach of FC Dallas in MLS, earning a promotion from his academy director role.

The club was coming off a pretty strong era under Oscar Pareja and had a lot of academy talent on the first team roster to build around. Gonzalez was someone who was very comfortable playing younger players, so most of the movement was about keeping the team young with key veterans in certain areas.
