Following Saturday's loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS Cup Playoffs, the offseason officially began for FC Dallas.

This season was a wild one from a good start on the road in Colorado and Houston, only to then struggle at home through the summer. Dallas turned things around in mid-July before going on a big run to finish 7th in the Western Conference and earn a playoff spot for the first time in a season.

As we begin ramping up for the offseason, let’s start off today with a look at some key questions facing the club. Some of them will sound very familiar, but I hope to really get into a lot of the roster side of things in the coming days.

Can they figure out the top end of the roster?

Petar Musa has been great. Osaze Urhoghide, also great. But the other top end talent needs to improve.

The last two seasons have seen some solid players come to Frisco. Petar Musa has been an absolute home run of a Designated Player signing. He has scored 34 goals across two seasons – the most in club history over a two-season span. He finished tied for fourth this season in the Golden Boot race with 18 goals, which is also tied for the club's single season goal scoring mark.

Then you have a guy like Osaze Urhoghide. He came in as a TAM signing before the start of the regular season. Like Musa, he's been a home run of a signing. I'm fairly confident if injuries don't pop up for him in 2026, we'll be looking at a Defender of the Year candidate in him.
