No one said FC Dallas didn’t know how to make things interesting.
After spending nearly four months away from Toyota Stadium, Dallas finally returned home Saturday night and give the crowd just about everything they could in a wild win over Sporting Kansas City. There were early defensive mistakes, a comeback, another blown lead, and eventually getting a game-winner by Petar Musa.
The final score tells you plenty about the night, but maybe not the entire story. Dallas’ attack was ruthless as Logan Farrington continued to come through on his side of things to help counter Musa, all while the defense spent far too much time scrambling against a SKC squad that sits at the bottom of the table in the league.

xG Battle/Attacking numbers
For the second straight match, and third time in the last three weeks, FC Dallas found itself in a shootout. This time though, Dallas made sure to walk away with all three points.
The final score may have been 4-3, but Sporting KC certainly had enough chances to make it even uglier. The visitors finished with 26 total shots compared to Dallas’ 15. I won’t stress over the possession edge, since Dallas rarely wins that battle, but SKC did end up earning nearly the same xG totals as Dallas. If you take out Musa’s late penalty, Dallas had a much lower xG number of around 1.3.
The reality here is that Dallas doesn’t need a ton of volume to be dangerous. Especially when you factor in guys like Farrington and Musa scoring.
