Sometimes a scoreless draw can feel like a point gained, especially on the road in MLS. Other times, it can feel like points left behind. For FC Dallas’ scoreless draw in Carson, California, it weirdly falls into both categories. It really is all in how you want to feel about the game.
FC Dallas had their moments in the first half to put the game away, while the second half saw one of the more complete defensive performances of the season to keep the game level.
Both can be good and also still not feel great at the same time. Let’s dive in.
Better start, scrappy finish
After a couple of ‘meh’ performances on the road to restart this season after the World Cup, Dallas actually came out a bit better in this one against the Galaxy.
Part of that was finding Petar Musa a bit more and having him be more active in the attacking third. He wasn’t having to chase the ball in his defensive third nearly as much as we saw in San Diego and because of that, Dallas had moments in the first half.
Musa ended the night with the most touches inside the penalty area, and the most shots on the night. All a recipe for a road win, right? Yeah, usually with this bunch it is.
