On a rare afternoon kickoff in May, FC Dallas' spring struggles continue following a 1-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders.

Alan Rusnak scored a late penalty kick to extend FC Dallas' winless streak at Lumen Field to 14 games.

The Sounders had several opportunities early in the first half, including one with former Dallas Homegrown Jesus Ferreira from three yards out from goal that forced Maarten Paes to make a stop that Osaze Urhoghide had to clear out of bounds for safety.

Ten minutes into the second half, FC Dallas finally was able to get a decent chance on goal after a brief spell of possession. Logan Farrington got the ball at the top of the penalty area. After a couple of dribbles, he laid it off to Ramiro, who took a hard and low shot at the near post that forced Stefan Frei to make a diving save.

Seattle nearly broke the deadlock in the 76th minute as Cristian Roland picked off a turnover in the Dallas defensive third. He played a ball into the penalty area for Ryan Kent, who then immediately crossed it back to Georgi Minoungou. The Sounder Homegrown's shot found the back of the net, but he was whistled offside.

The Sounders got the lead in the 86th minute as Osaze Urhoghide was whistled for a handball in the penalty box. Rusnak stepped up and beat Paes to his left.

Dallas has one more good opportunity in the third minute of stoppage time when Lalas Abubakar took a ball from 25 yards out that beat Frei but hit the post.

Instant Reaction: It is pretty telling that the only real positive play for Dallas in the attacking third was a shot from distance from Ramiro in the second half. There were some decent moments in that second half.

The Sounders brought some relentless pressure early on in this one and everything was really one way traffic for the hosts. The penalty kick was certainly unfortunately, as the Dallas defense had been doing enough to keep the Sounders off the board.

About the Subs: After halftime, Eric Quill went to his bench to switch out Anderson Julio for Bernard Kamungo. At the hour mark, Quill made a triple sub with Petar Musa, Kaick and Shaq Moore coming on for Show, Farrington, and Patrickson Delgado. The final sub of the match came in the 75th minute as Tsiki Ntsabeleng came on for Marco Farfan.

Man of the Match: Pedrinho had some moments where he showed his flare on the ball in the attacking third.

Where does this fit into the season: Another loss as the month of May has been brutal for this club. No points from the match means no movement up in the standings today for FC Dallas. The best we can hope for is that Real Salt Lake continues to struggle and they don't pass us later following their game with Vancouver.

What’s next for FC Dallas: The second double-game week in a row is coming up as FC Dallas will return home to Texas this weekend before heading up to Ohio for a midweek clash at FC Cincinnati. They'll then play next Saturday at home against the Philadelphia Union.
