FC Dallas picked up its third shutout of the season in a scoreless draw on Saturday night against the Philadelphia Union.

The hosts spent 50 minutes down a man as Lalas Abubakar picked up two yellow cards within eight minutes shortly before the end of the first half.

With the advantage, the Union had plenty of chances on goal. In the 49th minute, they had their best chance of the match to that point when Bruno Damiani's shot hit off the far post before Marco Farfan cleared the ball out of bounds.

The result also extended FC Dallas' unbeaten mark over the Union at home to nine games all-time.

Instant Reaction: To end this week with two points against two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, I think you take it. Especially with the way the defense had to play tonight following the red card to Abubakar. It is wild that FC Dallas actually ended the match with more shots on target (2) than Philadelphia's one.

About the Subs: It took over 80 minutes to see someone come off the bench, but in the 83rd minute Bernard Kamungo came on for Anderson Julio. Four minutes later, Logan Farrington came on for Petar Musa.

Man of the Match: Let's go with Paes who had to make a pair of saves.

Where does this fit into the season: This could be the kind of result you look back on as a major positive. It slightly improves that ugly home record by a little bit. The point keeps Dallas in 11th, with two points on Sporting KC (who downed Houston tonight on the road) and RSL.

What’s next for FC Dallas: The month of June is up next, and with that comes some time off. FC Dallas will return to the field on June 14 when they travel north to take on Sporting Kansas City.
