There must be something about staying in hotels that is working for FC Dallas in 2025. On Saturday night, FC Dallas extended its unbeaten run on the road to five games after picking up its second shutout of the year in a 0-0 draw against Minnesota United.

The draw also extended Dallas' unbeaten run in Minnesota to four straight games.

Neither team could gain the advantage in the first half. Dallas were able to test Dayne St. Clair with two shots in the first ten minutes. The Loons had the closest chance as Joseph Rosales found Bongokuhle Hlongwane in the penalty area. Hlongwane's attempt beat goalkeeper Maarten Paes, but the shot hit off the post.

Ten minutes into the second half, Dallas started to knock on the door and nearly came away with a goal off a corner kick from Pedrinho. The Brazilian's cross curled into the penalty box where Osaze Urhoghide was there to rattle a header off the crossbar.

In the 78th minute, Lucho Acosta nearly put Dallas on the board. The Argentine drifted wide to the left side where he won the ball outside the penalty area. After a couple of dribbles he chipped it to Ramiro, who then played a quick ball back into the penalty area. Acosta was able to get on the end of it and head it towards goal, but St. Clair managed to get a hand on the ball and push it out over the goal.

Instant Reaction: To get a result without Petar Musa for 90 minutes and without Acosta for 60-ish minutes, feels like a win in my book. Neither team really seemed like they knew what to do with the ball at times in this one, but the Dallas grittiness in defense really shined in this one. Paes didn't have a ton of work to do and thankfully the one time he was tested, the post came up big for him. There is still a lot of work to do, but the heavier-than-expected rotation of the lineup tonight appeared to get the job done.

About the Subs: After halftime, Eric Quill went to his bench to bring on Sebastien Ibeagha for Lalas Abubakar. Acosta came on for Pedrinho with about 28 minutes to go in the match as the second sub of the night. Quill made his third sub with about 10 minutes to go, as Show came off and Patrickson Delgado came on. The finally sub came in the final moments of the match, as Bernard Kamungo came on for Anderson Julio.

Man of the Match: Urhoghide had himself a big night on both sides of the ball, but maybe more importantly at getting under the skin of several Minnesota United players.

Where does this fit into the season: The draw keeps Dallas above the playoff line for now after nine games, but more importantly, the lack of losses on the road are really making up for the poor play at home so far this year.

What’s next for FC Dallas: The club heads to South Florida next Sunday to battle Lionel Messi and unbeaten Inter Miami.
