FC Dallas and San Diego FC played to a chaotic 3-3 draw on Saturday night at Toyota Stadium. The match had about everything: multiple penalty kicks, goals called back for offside, momentum swings, and a dramatic stoppage-time equalizer. Petar Musa delivered the final punch in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time, completing his hat trick and rescuing a point for FC Dallas.

San Diego looked to be in control early with two first half penalty kicks, including one that was a result of a video review. The visitors got a third goal in the early stages of the second half before Musa scored from the penalty spot for his second.

The hat trick was his second in a Dallas uniform, which now puts him in the club’s all-time lead for most hat tricks.

Instant Reaction

This game was truly something else. San Diego ended the night a perfect three-for-three on shots, thanks to the two penalty kicks. Musa showing up and putting in the work and effort was a real bonus on what felt like a night that could easily not go FC Dallas’ way.

Sure, this was against plenty of San Diego’s reserves. But the effort and hustle on the night was there. This one will be a wild one to rewatch.

About the Subs

Around the 68th minute, Eric Quill went to his bench for the first time to bring Logan Farrington on for Chris Cappis. About ten minutes later, Quill made a double substitution by pulling Ramiro and Joaquin Valiente off for Patrickson and Deedson. Ran Binyamin was the final sub in the 85th minute for Sebastien Ibeagha.

Man of the Match

Musa showed why he is one of the best number 9s in all of MLS.

Where does this fit into the season
