FC Dallas is looking to make some club history on Saturday night when they visit expansion side San Diego FC for the first time.

FC Dallas currently is unbeaten on the road in 2025, with a 3-0-3 record following their wild 4-3 win last weekend in Miami. With a result on Saturday, FC Dallas would become the fourth team in MLS history to open a season with a road unbeaten streak of seven or more games, joining the 2013 Portland Timbers (nine matches), 2024 Philadelphia Union (eight matches), and 2009 Chicago Fire FC (seven matches).

After the come from behind win in Miami last weekend, FC Dallas manager Eric Quill wants his club to remain consistent with how they play as they look to extend their unbeaten road mark in 2025.

“We have to keep our feet on the ground and prepare well,” said Quill. “They're a good team, we have to execute. You can't feel good about yourself because of last weekend. You have to be consistent from one performance to the next."

Miami wasn't the only road match that has seen FC Dallas come from behind to secure a result in 2025. FC Dallas also came from behind in their win over Houston, as well as the draws in Colorado and Atlanta.

One of the big catalysts for the comeback in Miami came off the bench. Brazilian playmaker Pedrinho picked up a goal and an assist in his 35 minutes of play. He could be called again to spark the team on Saturday in San Diego.

"He's a special player. We know that about him and he showed why (in Miami)," said Quill. "He was a key cog and why we turned that game around. He's got plenty more and you can expect to see a player that is going to help us reach out goals."

San Diego is coming off three straight losses, including a 3-1 loss last weekend at home against Real Salt Lake. FC Dallas has had some success over the (many) years against expansion teams in their first match. They hold a 12-6-4 record in those meetings, with the most recent one being a win over St. Louis CITY SC in 2023.

Injury Updates

Ahead of Friday's official team injury report, we were able to obtain a couple of updates.

Last week, the club posted on social media a photo of Paxton Pomykal back in full training. He didn't make the roster in Miami, but Quill is confident we'll see his return fairly soon with the team in the coming weeks.

"Paxton is an exceptional talent that has been missed here," said Quill. "I feel blessed to get him back and just what he's brought to the environment. His touch on the ball and vision on the field. I'm really looking forward to his soon-to-be debut. I think it will be an emotional night. This kid is deserving of what is to come for him. He helps us be the best version of ourselves."

Outside of that, we know Marco Farfan is still a month or so out from returning from his injury. Petar Musa, Sebastien Lletget and Leo Chu have also been sidelined recently. Quill did have some hope for a Musa return here shortly.

"They're all progressing at a faster rate than we expected. I expect Petar (Musa) to be back soon," said Quill.

Musa was seen training this week with the first team, but we were told to wait for the final injury report to know whether or not he is part of Quill's plans for Saturday.

Quill also stated that Lletget is probably still a couple of weeks away from his return.
