From preseason to the start of the regular season, there has been one fairly consistent thing that FC Dallas fans have noticed in new manager Eric Quill.
His large FC Dallas red hat.
After the club’s win in Houston and draw in Colorado to start the season, the hat began to pick up plenty of comments online. Either be that fans were excited that the hat was bringing good luck to a club who struggled away from home in the previous season, or it was just general intrigue and superstition.
But after FC Dallas dropped a late game at home to the Chicago Fire after being up a goal, the big red hat was changed out for a white Dallas True Brvnd hat the following week against the Vancouver Whitecaps. The luck of the red hat wore off, but the white hat brought no new luck as FC Dallas lost that match 1-0.
As to what Quill has to say about his hat selections, it really only comes down to what is first available to him each morning when he's getting ready at the stadium.
"It is whatever my arm reaches for first in my locker," explained Quill. "Sorry there wasn't more to the storyline there."
Even with the cold water thrown on the hat's meaning, fans can still enjoy seeing which hat is worn to each match.
