The 2025 schedule was released earlier this week and now that we’ve had some time to sit with it, I felt it was good to break it down a bit.
So for starters, it is the standard 34-game schedule that MLS has been using for years now. FC Dallas will have 17 games at Toyota Stadium, and then 17 more on the road.
Due to the conference imbalance and the league’s large size, FC Dallas will not play every team in 2025. It has been several years now since FC Dallas was able to see each team in the league in a single season.
Top games worth catching at home
- Chicago Fire (home opener, March 8): It feels like it has been a decade since the Chicago Fire last came to Frisco. Will the Brimstone Cup rivalry live up to the days of old in the home opener? Probably not, but at least it will serve as an interesting matchup to begin the home slate this year.
- Houston Dynamo (Texas Derby, May 17): Not only will the Texas Derby be decided before Memorial Day this year, we’ll get the return leg in the two game series in mid-May. I’m good with that.
- San Diego FC (June 28): The expansion darlings come to town for the first time in late June. By then, we’ll have a decent idea of what kind of team this is for San Diego. Recent expansion sides have either been a train wreck in their first year (Cincinnati) or pretty damn good (LAFC).
- Minnesota United (July 4): The annual 4th of July match sees Minnesota come to town this year. If it is anything like the last time the Loons came to Frisco, we should see plenty of goals.
- Austin FC (Copa Tejas, September 13): Unlike previous season, Copa Tejas will not be decided until late in the season. Honestly, I find that to be a massive win for all three clubs. Plus, this one has more meaning with former head coach Nico Estevez in charge of the Verde.
