April sets up as a defining stretch of games for FC Dallas. The schedule picks up with five games that could quickly swing the early-season narrative surrounding the club. It begins with a cross-country trip to D.C. United, followed by three straight home games before wrapping up with a west coast trip to Seattle.
There’s opportunity here with three matches at Toyota Stadium, all against Western Conference opponents. But the road tests are what could make the difference for Dallas, as we get more of a preview to how this group will act when they are dealing with a nine-game road trip, starting next month.
If February and March were about setting a tone for the season, April will be proving to the league that the positive results weren’t a fluke.
Let’s dive into this month’s schedule to see where the points could come from.

DC United - away - April 4
First up this weekend, is a trip to the nation’s capital. These East vs West matchups always come with a bit of unpredictability. D.C. United has shown so far this season that they are a different team at home, and Dallas will need to manage the tempo early to avoid chasing the game. Getting a result here, even a draw, would be a solid way to start this busy month.
All-time at DC: 7-10-5 (a lot of this was from the early years of MLS)
Last win at DC: 2024, the club’s last meeting with the Black-and-Red
St. Louis CITY SC - home - April 11
The three-game home stand kicks off with a conference matchup against St. Louis CITY SC. These matches have been chaotic over the years, not to mention one took over a month to finish. Dallas’ 2025 season got back on track a year ago when St. Louis came to town, maybe their season can get moving for real with this meeting.
All-time at home vs St. Louis: 3-0-0 (Dallas has yet to be scored on at home in this series)
Last win at home vs St. Louis: 2025, a big 3-0 win (also when the club debuted their amazing retro kits)
LA Galaxy - home - April 18
The LA Galaxy are still one of those clubs with more questions surrounding them than answers. They have some guys like Joao Klauss now, who are doing very well for them. But they still stumble in games that you’d think they’d be competitive in. This is the kind of matchup where Dallas’ attack has to show up and control the game, especially at home. Dropping points here will feel like a missed opportunity.
All-time at home vs LA: 26-9-7 (Dallas has a nine-game home win streak on LA right now)
Last win at home vs LA: 2025, a 2-1 win late in the season
Minnesota United - home - April 22
This will be a tricky one, as FC Dallas hosts Minnesota on a Wednesday night before heading to Seattle that weekend. The Loons are still a tricky club this season, and by this point, we should see James Rodriguez cooking with this club a bit.
All-time at home vs Minnesota: 5-3-2 (Dallas has one win in their last five at home against the Loons)
Last win at home vs Minnesota: 2024, which was Petar Musa’s first hat trick with the club
Seattle Sounders - away - April 25
Let’s get this one out of the way, Dallas hasn’t won in Seattle in a very long time. Lumen Field has been probably one of the toughest venues for this club to go into and get a positive result. If Dallas takes care of business at home this month, this will be a chance to go on the road and steal points, even if it is a draw. That would be a positive result to end the month.
All-time at Seattle: 1-12-4 (Dallas has two draws in their last five trips to Seattle)
Last win at Seattle: 2011. Yeah, it’s been a minute.
Outlook
There is no getting around it, April is a month that could define the season for Dallas.
With three home games in the middle of the schedule, and two tricky road trips, this is one of those months that will show us exactly what this team really is on the season.
Realistically, this should be a month where Dallas grabs 8-11 points. Those three home games need to be wins, and if they can sneak out of D.C. or Seattle with points, then we’ll be cooking. Grab all 15 (which does feel like a stretch), and we’re taking about something else entirely here.
But anything less than 6 or 7 points, and we’re looking at a team that will be a Wild Card contender at best.
There are no excuses in April. The schedule is right there to take it. This group just has to want it.
