It is time for another FC Dallas player recap from the 2025 season, with a look at U-22 midfielder Kaick.

Stat breakdown

The young Brazilian came in and immediately found a spot in Eric Quill’s lineup. Once he got comfortable in Dallas and in MLS, his minutes picked up and we started to see his potential.

Highlight

I didn’t expect Kaick to score any this year, but the 20-year old bagged a couple of good ones. This one against St. Louis was excellent.

What to expect in 2026?

The simple answer here is that we need more progression out of him in 2026. He had plenty of good moments in 2025, followed up by plenty of moments that reminded us he was a 20-year old kid after all. If he can continue to lock in a starting role again, limit those silly fouls that lead to yellow cards, and find ways to be better in the passing game, he’ll be on his way to bigger things.

Final thoughts

When the club was pursuing Kaick, the one thing folks at the club kept telling me was how excited everyone from Eric Quill, to Dan Hunt, to Andre Zanotta, all the way down to coaches like Michel and Rodrigo Rios were about the potential Kaick brought to the team. They scouted him for a couple of years after all, and felt he had the potential to be a Diego Chara-like talent for years to come in MLS. Yep - that was one of the comments I got on repeat.

And to be fair, once Kaick got settled in with FC Dallas in the summer, he showed he does indeed have that kind of potential. Now is he a MLS Best XI type of defensive midfielder like Chara once was in Portland? No, he’s nowhere near that level. At least not yet.

When it comes down to it, though, I like what Kaick brings to this team. He fits the mold of a Quill-guy in the midfield. He’s got the right energy and physical play about him that gives teams headaches. He just needs a bit of fine tuning.
