I've said for many years that you have to win your home games, no matter what in MLS. Saturday's 2-1 win over the LA Galaxy felt like the perfect example of an ugly home win that you take and move quickly away from.
FC Dallas did exactly what you should expect them to do against a team that is at the bottom of the table. Win. Even if it was ugly. The win also extended FC Dallas' unbeaten mark to eight games, which has to give you even a bit of hope that it can carry on for another two weeks to wrap up the 2025 season.
Let's dive into a couple of key points from the win as we look to continue to get closer to a playoff spot.
Sloppy start could have done this team in
One thing FC Dallas manager Eric Quill was quick to say after the win over the LA Galaxy was how much he respected what Greg Vanney has done with his team in 2025. Its been a tough year for LA after they won the MLS Cup in 2024. Injuries, roster turnover, you name it, the Galaxy have been through it this year.
But, Quill was right, they're a quality side despite their record. They proved that in moments in this game like the opening 20 and final 20 minutes of the match. They put FC Dallas under a ton of pressure and got a nice goal from Diego Fagundez as a result.
The difference between that opening 20 and the final 20 was the quality of the chances that the Galaxy got on goal. The opening 20 saw some solid looks that made you think this game was going to be a long one for FC Dallas. Once again, the Dallas defense was stout and limited the quality chances on goal to be very few on the afternoon.

That is a lot of shots from distance, with only very few inside the penalty area. While the Galaxy poured on some pressure the Dallas defense didn't fold.
