This year has been a difficult year for FC Dallas in Southern California. There was a blowout loss at San Diego back in May, followed by a rough loss to LAFC in the summer. The LAFC loss did set a course of events that ultimately led to Lucho Acosta being sold, but it was a loss on the field that we’re really dwelling on here.
Then there was Saturday’s game against the Galaxy. Even after rewatching most of this match (there were times when LA had the ball in the second half that had to be skipped over because they really struggled to do anything positive with it for a bit), this one may sting the most. Not only did it keep FC Dallas from clinching a playoff spot, but the cards picked up in the match will see some guys players miss the Decision Day match in Vancouver, and one of them, Petar Musa won’t be able to break the club’s single-season goal scoring record.
Yeah, truly gut wrenching.
Let’s discuss a couple of the key elements from this one while we wait on some playoff scenarios to stress over for this weekend to come into our inbox.
Red cards in 2025
With a playoff spot on the line for FC Dallas, the team stumbled out of the gate and then things took a turn for the worse 16 minutes into the match when Logan Farrington picked up a straight red.
I honestly hate that I have to spend time discussing a red card like this, but when it changes the outcome of a game, you kind of have to do it.
This red was soft at best. The ref claimed after the match to the league pool reporter that Farrington kicked the LA player in the groin when he was standing over him.
