As the month of October is coming into view, FC Dallas remains in the playoff hunt following its 2-2 draw on Saturday night against the Portland Timbers.
The unbeaten run has been extended to seven games, with the last four road games ending in a draw.
Let's dive into the draw to see what key points came out of it and where we go from here before we take on the LA Galaxy in back-to-back games.
Plenty of fight left in the dogs
FC Dallas manager Eric Quill loves to talk about his players playing like dawgs. It has been a theme all season long and at first it didn't seem to ring true. Now days, it almost feels like a rally cry.
We're seeing dog mentality more and more here in the final stretch of the regular season, particularly in the attack. Petar Musa continues to score and inch closer to the club's all-time regular season goal mark. Logan Farrington is showing that he could be one of the more underappreciated players in MLS with the way he battles for the ball (not to mention forcing a penalty kick).
The way Musa and Farrington play off one another provides the club with more opportunities to get quality chances on goal. We saw this early in the first half with some quick counter plays and then again in the second half as they were chasing the game a bit to tie it up.
There were plenty of attempts on goal in this one from FC Dallas. It has been a while since we've seen them put up seven shots on target on the road this year, with many of them hitting the post, or forcing a big save.
