My view of this FC Dallas team has really started to be more black and white in recent weeks. There are some good moments and then there are plenty of bad moments.

Following FC Dallas’ three-game home stand where they went winless against San Jose, San Diego and Minnesota, the picture is far more black than it is white for this group.

What is funny, I’ve started and stopped on writing a piece about how this is going to be a rebuilding season since the blowout loss at San Diego earlier this spring. It’s been on my mind and the last three games have taught me pretty quickly that is where this club is at right now. I think even FC Dallas manager Eric Quill is starting to show that just a bit (more on that in a moment).

So, let’s breakdown the loss to Minnesota and discuss the future a bit more with this group.

Loons take it directly at FC Dallas

“It wasn't for a lack of practice on the training field and organizations that we've been working at. We know that's what they're about. They have literally scored a long throw in the last three games I think it is, it's unacceptable. It's unacceptable, and we've been pretty good up until last game about set pieces. We've been one of the best teams in the league at not giving up much, and now tonight, two set pieces were the difference, and we all must understand that's not an acceptable way to lose.” Eric Quill on giving up two set piece goals

We knew Minnesota was going to play their direct style and make FC Dallas suffer if the defense wasn’t on their best game.

At halftime, with a 1-0 lead off a set piece goal, Minnesota had 14 shots to FC Dallas five. While FC Dallas did manage to pull what we’ve seen out of them time and time again this season with two of those shots being on target, Minnesota had already created the bulk of the game’s chances by that point.
