There are stat breakdowns that can tell a good story. And then there are stat breakdowns that whisper, “yeah…not much happened in this one.”

FC Dallas’ scoreless draw with Nashville SC was defined as much by what didn’t happen as what did. The limited shots on goal between both sides. The lack of big chances in the game. Long stretches of just…nothing. Not even a late red card moved the needle enough.

This wasn’t a night of explosive attacking metrics to get worked up over and highlight. It was a grind from start to finish more than anything else. Let’s put a bow on this game from a stat perspective before we move on to this weekend’s first road test in LA.

Defensive recap

Let’s be real. The defense shined in this one, as they earned the first shutout of the season.

Michael Collodi didn’t have much to do on the night, as Osaze Urhoghide, Shaq Moore and Sebastien Ibeagha were much more compact and better in week two as a unit.

Before I get into their numbers, I do have to call out Kaick’s performance in this one. Aside from maybe one or two bad passes on the night, I was impressed with the young Brazilian. This was one of those games where he felt like he was at his best level. Maybe it was playing next to Chris Cappis in the midfield (which I do think makes a difference for him), but Kaick was a gnat for Nashville on the night.

Kaick finished the game with a solid 44/53 on his passing, one chance created, 61 touches, 12 passes into the final third, with five recoveries and four duels won. This game felt like a good step forward for him, even if he still had a couple of sloppy moments.
