FC Dallas returns to Toyota Stadium to kick off a three-game home stand, starting with a match up against conference rivals St. Louis CITY SC. It’s a different kind of test compared to recent opponents, one that is less about control and more about surviving the pressure that will be brought.
Home games in stretches like this are where seasons start to take shape. Dallas has already built a nice foundation on the season with 11 points in six games. But with three straight at home in April, this is a moment to continue that momentum from the last two wins and make Toyota Stadium a true problem for visiting teams.
Dallas will need to decide early: match St. Louis’ intensity, or get run over by it.
Potential Lineup & Tactic Style:
St. Louis entered the 2026 season with a change of guard both on the bench and in the front office. Yoann Damet is now the manager and he is keeping the same chaos, high press and annoyance that has made playing St. Louis one of the more annoying teams in MLS.
Projected XI (3-4-3): Burki, Orzoco, Baumgartl, Polvara; Wallem, Durkin, Edelman, Santos; Becher, Cordova, Hartel
- Offensive tendencies - The chances have been there for St. Louis this season, but the finishing has lacked. If Dallas is able to clog up the middle of the field, those chances will likely continue to be average or poor at best for St. Louis.

- Defensive shape - They press high, like really high up the field. The front line closes down quickly, the midfield steps up aggressively, and they want to trap you in your own half. If you are sloppy playing out of the back, they’ll punish you immediately. A bad touch or lazy pass isn’t just a turnover, it is a scoring chance. Also, they play very compact in the middle of the field, if you spread them out, chances will be there to punish them.

Key Player: Marcel Hartel
Out of the three St. Louis DPs, the German Hartel is the only one that has made a dent this season with two goals in the first five games. Limiting his time and chances on the ball will keep the St. Louis attack at bay.

Key Matchup: Roman Burki vs Petar Musa
I normally wouldn’t call out a goalkeeper in a game, but when you have a DP keeper on the books, he’s worth pointing out at some point in a scouting report. We’ve seen in games against St. Louis and Burki that he can keep them in matches for long stretches. So, will Musa continue to score or will Burki get the best of him?

Quick Notes:
All-time at Dallas: St. Louis is 0-3-0 in all-time meetings in Frisco. Dallas has outscored them 7-0 in those three regular season matches.
Current form: St. Louis is 1-3-2 on the season, through six games. Their lone win came before the international break, when they downed New England 3-1 in their best performance of the season. Last weekend, they picked up a late draw in NYCFC.
Where they're at in the standings: Because of that form, St. Louis is sitting in 13th place in the MLS Western Conference on five points.

Three keys for FC Dallas
- Beat the first line of pressure: This one is everything this weekend. If Dallas can play through that initial press from St. Louis, with clean first touches, quick decisions and smart movement, they’ll find space. If they can’t, it’s going to be a turnover fest and a potentially long night.
- Don’t get rushed into mistakes: St. Louis wants you to panic on the ball. They want that clear “oh crap, just boot it up the field” kind of moment. Dallas has to stay composed, trust their build up play, and not gift wrap easy chances.
- Attack the space behind the pressure: Once Dallas breaks through the pressure, there will be room to work. Lots of it, too. Playing the wide channels, quick switches and balls over the top (that have been the bread and butter for Logan Farrington in recent weeks), is where Dallas can hurt St. Louis in big ways.
