The silly season is beginning to heat up for FC Dallas fans here in the month of December. Following last week’s end-of-season press conference, FC Dallas CSO Andre Zanotta stated that the club was already close to signing some new players, most which are likely Homegrown additions that the club likes to make in the winter months.

On Monday, a new report hit the web from The Athletic’s Tom Bogert that states FC Dallas could be adding another U22 signing in the form of Israeli midfielder Ran Binyamin.

🇮🇱 Sources: FC Dallas in advanced talks to sign Israel youth int'l midfielder Ran Binyamin from Hapoel Tel Aviv. Binyamin, 21, would be U-22 initiative if deal gets done. Had 7g/7a in Israel second tier in 2024-25.

Binyamin had seven goals and seven assists last year in the Israeli second division. The 21-year old has primarily been a central midfielder during his professional career. He and also play in the defensive side or as a winger in the midfield, something that could work well in manager Eric Quill’s 5-2-3 system.

He recently scored a goal against Holland in the U21 UEFA Championship qualifications.

Quick BDS Take

This goes in line with the talk that the club would be sticking with the U22 roster model in 2026. But it also means that the club will have to open up a slot to make this kind of signing happen. The club currently has four slots taken up by Kaick, Patrickson Delgado, Geovane Jesus and Enes Sali.

So either the club has found someone to take Sali off their hands, or they’re going to do a buyout. It is also possible that they’ve found a loan partner for Jesus as they look to get him back up to form for 2026 (I still say don’t sleep on him spending a lot of time with North Texas SC next year).

Aside from that part of the roster, this is still one of those signings that makes your head hurt a bit. This would be another player from the Middle East to come to Frisco, following the likes of Show and Eugene Ansah. Both of those players had a couple of decent moments, both neither seemed to really stick when it came down to it.

The ‘market value’ on a guy like Binyamin isn’t super high either, so we wouldn’t be getting much of a salary cap break in using him as a U22 player on the roster. We’ll have to wait and see what kind of transfer fee is involved here before we really know what FCD could be spending on this guy.
