The Major League Soccer primary transfer window is set to close next week on March 26. Several clubs across the league are racing to get deals finalized before the window closes.
After making a few moves earlier in the winter, FC Dallas appears to have one more move left to make. A new report from South America shows that Dallas is going to add former Portland Timbers forward, Santiago Moreno from Fluminese in the final days of the transfer window.
Santiago Moreno está de saída do Fluminense para jogar no Dallas, da MLS. O colombiano já se despediu dos companheiros e tem viagem prevista para esse final de semana para se apresentar ao novo clube.

The 25-year old Moreno left Portland midway through the 2025 season, when he was transfered to the Brazil’s Série A. In his four years with the Timbers, Moreno tallied 20 goals and 40 assists in 131 appearances (109 starts).
At the international level, Moreno has earned two caps for the Colombian National Team. He debuted for the senior squad in a friendly match against Paraguay on Nov. 19, 2022, and made his second appearance in a friendly match against the U.S. Men’s National Team on January 28, 2023.

Quick BDS Take
This is a bit of an odd one for FC Dallas. Moreno was a U22 player for the Timbers and had a reported $5 million transfer fee to Fluminese last year summer.
I’m not close enough to Brazilian soccer to know if he had a falling out with the management at Fluminese since last summer, but I did see that Moreno was also potentially going to go back to Columbia with CD America de Cali earlier this year.
The other thing to keep watch on here with this is that this could be a replacement of sorts for Anderson Julio, who might actually be out on an injury longer than the club anticipated. I was told before last week’s San Diego game that he suffered a pretty tough leg injury in training before the LAFC game, and it is possible the club is having to put him on the shelf longer.
Moreno adds an interesting element to the Dallas attack if he does arrive next week. He’s not the #10 that fans have wanted, though he could be a nice counter part to Joaquin Valiente and Petar Musa.
My gut tells me this one could end up being a loan that could turn into a purchase, as well. That feels more like what this Dallas group would do for a player like Moreno.
