Our opposition research is back this week as we dive into FC Dallas’ next opponent, St. Louis CITY SC.
This week Justin Horneker from Talkin’ Soccer returns to discuss St. Louis CITY SC, discuss where things have gone since these two sides squared off, and who we should look out for on Saturday night in Missouri.
Be sure to give Justin a follow on BlueSky and check out his excellent blog that covers soccer in the Gateway City and more.
Injury report
Cedric Teuchert continues to sit out with a lingering injury which compounds Sangbin Jeong and Mykhi Joyner’s international duty obligations.
Recent Form
St. Louis has experienced a mixed bag as of late. Their attacking form has been great, especially compared to earlier in the season when they couldn’t find goals under Olof Mellberg’s direction. Unfortunately, that has come at the price of defensive stability. St. Louis has lost 3 straight 2-3 games and while playoffs are out of the picture, the season has become about finding clarity ahead of next season.
Projected Starting Lineup/Formation
Marcel Hartel-João Klauss-Simon Becher?
Tomáš Ostrák-Edu Löwen-Chris Durkin
Devin Padelford-Henry Kessler-Timo Baumgartl- Tomas Totland

Key players to watch out for
Edu Löwen has returned to the lineup full time and has been on a tear. Goals in back-to-back and four goals, two assists in eight matches since returning to the lineup full time.
What is new with St Louis since we last squared off?
David Critchley has figured out the attack since St. Louis visited Dallas in July but it’s still been rough sailing that culminated in parting ways with Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel. The offseason looms large, they have to work fast on a Sporting Director hire and subsequently a decision at manager, but caretaker manager David Critchley has made progress.
