The month of March doesn’t ease FC Dallas into the 2026 season, it kind of throws them into the deep in against some top Western Conference opponents. A trip to LA kicks off the month, in a venue that Dallas has yet to win a match in. To follow that up, Dallas hosts two conference foes in San Diego and Houston.

That is nine points on the table, but history and current form suggests that won’t come easy.

If this group wants to establish some early momentum on this season, this is the kind of stretch where the tone gets set. Either you grab control of the narrative on the season, or you’re are beginning to chase it into April when things really begin to pick up.

Let’s dive into this month’s schedule to see where the points could come from.

LAFC - away - March 7

Nothing says ‘good luck in your first road game’ like going to a place where you’ve never picked up a win. That is the task for FC Dallas in their first test away from Frisco this season.

Can they continue to build off their road form from last year? Or was that more of a blip? We will find out in a big way this coming weekend.

San Diego FC - home - March 14

The games against San Diego did not go well for FC Dallas last year. Two games. Two really bad losses.

But Dallas also didn’t get San Diego during the stretch of the season last year when they were playing good soccer, either. San Diego enters their sophomore season with some question marks on what they’ll end up doing with Chucky Lozano. He’s not in their plans for this season and as of this writing, not with the team.

Houston Dynamo - home - March 21

To round out the month, we get the first Texas Derby (and Copa Tejas) match of the year. The Dynamo made some interesting roster moves ahead of this new season and will look to gain some early momentum in the Derby. To say this is a must-win is an absolute understatement.

Outlook

Honestly, it is kind of weird that there are only three games this month. I get the FIFA break is part of that, and believe me, I want MLS to break for FIFA as much as the next guy.

Still, nine points are available in March and all are important. With two games at home, Dallas has to continue to build up that bank of points for the season before they hit the road in the summer for that nine-game trip.

On paper, I feel good about the club picking up points in this point. At a minimum, it feels like five points or bust. Two draws and a win seems like a doable marker for this group, while if they can some how squeeze out seven, it would be a massive leap forward for this group. After all, that would mean they’d be unbeaten into the month of April.

Is that doable? We’ll see. Let’s discuss below what you think the point total will be for this month.
