When the schedule came out for the 2025 season, July was a month I circled as an important one for FC Dallas. Not only did it come off the heels of a shorter three-game month in June with two home games, but it also ended with another three-game home stand that extended into August.

At the time, it felt like this would be the moment that FC Dallas could use to springboard themselves up the standings in the Western Conference.

As we've seen lately, that isn't really the case. I still believe July is an all-important month for FC Dallas. There are three home games against teams that FC Dallas should be able to beat right now. The two road game aren't great, but given the road form this season, you can't rule it out just yet.

Let's dive into this month's schedule.

Minnesota United - home - July 4

The annual July 4th match is usually a good one for FC Dallas on the schedule. FC Dallas is 11-5-6 in all-time July 4th matches, with the last loss coming in the 2023 season to D.C. United.

The Loons have been a bit up and down as of late, with a 2-1-2 record in their last five matches. The lone loss, against San Diego. Yeah, we've all been there.

LAFC - away - July 12

Following our July 4th match, we get a two-game road trip to California starting with a weekend battle at LAFC. Dallas is still winless at LAFC since they joined MLS. We may get a bit of a rotated lineup from them as well in this one since they have a midweek match against Colorado (a rescheduled match from May).

San Jose Earthquakes - away - July 16

The return match with the Quakes comes the following Wednesday at PayPal Park. Bruce Arena's squad had their way with FC Dallas last week in the first meeting between the two sides this season and hold a pretty strong record at home against FCD as well.

St. Louis CITY SC - home - July 19

After the two-game road trip to California, FC Dallas returns home for a pair of home games to wrap up the month of July, starting with St. Louis. Dallas has done well at home against St. Louis since they joined MLS and so far this season, the Gateway City side has been struggling to find form. As of this writing, they're also 1-7-2 away from home this season.

NYCFC - home - July 25

To wrap up the month will be a rare non-holiday Friday night game. NYCFC has also been struggling on the road this season (with a recent loss in Montreal to prove it). Following this match, Dallas will have a bit of a break before their next match in August when they're at home against Portland.

Outlook

Three home games should be a good thing. They should. This season however they’ve been anything but good. Only one win through nine games at Toyota Stadium doesn't spark the same kind of hope that it used to.

I may sound like a broken record at this point in the year, but all three games are must win now. If FC Dallas is able to get nine points from those three home games, along with at least a draw or two on the road, this could be the month that turns this club's fortunes around.

But, if we continue to see more of the same out of this group (the good but definitely not great), you can probably begin to kiss the playoffs goodbye. That five-point gap between 11th and 9th place may end up being even bigger if we don't see this group close that space in July.

What do you all think is a reasonable expectation for this month's point total? Can this group find some momentum to build off of here? Or will it be more of the same?
