There are draws in this league that will feel like losses, and there are draws that end up feeling a bit more like wins. FC Dallas’ wild 3-3 draw at St. Louis on Sunday certainly belongs in the latter category.
For large stretches of the night, Dallas wasn’t particularly sharp. The defense struggled to keep up with things and allowed some easy goals.
But if there is anything we’ve learned from this FC Dallas squad that Eric Quill has built, fully putting them away is easier said than done. Dallas kept pushing, found a lifeline late, and then Logan Farrington completed the comeback deep into stoppage time.
It wasn’t pretty, and there will be plenty for Quill to address this week, but salvaging a point from that position says plenty about the mentality of this team as the page turns toward a home-friendly September.

As for diving into the draw in St. Louis, boy, it was one of those comebacks that you may look back on and say that it was the reason why this team ended up in a good playoff spot when it is all said and done.
By and large, Dallas wasn’t in this one until the final 25 minutes when they were chasing the game. In other games this season where they had to chase, we’d see them come up short. It helped that St. Louis sat back and struggled defensively to close this one out.
